Grange Farm, Elmstead Market

Hills Group is relocating to Elmstead Market. The site covering more than 5 acres has been designed flexibly to accommodate not only Hills Group but associated consultants and subsidiaries. There will be an amalgamation of functions of the business which have become fragmented over a number of sites over the past few years.

After a lengthy search of alternative options, the Company identified the Grange Farm site as an appropriate location which is more accessible to its workforce and work hinterland, thereby enhancing efficiency of the business and supporting more sustainable working practices.

Over the last 5 years the Group has grown organically and employs over 130 people across its businesses and its sites. A number of operations have been outsourced and split to several locations. Whilst this is more efficient at peak time congestion in Colchester, it creates a greater inefficiency in sustainable terms and improving sustainability is at the core of what Hills Group are trying to achieve.  The construction and specification of these buildings is to achieve an ultra low carbon efficient building that requires as little energy as possible to operate and will also be powered entirely from renewable resources.
